We’re planning to add a number of features we can’t find “out of the box” implementations for. Matt Jones will helping develop these.
- Optional attribution for authors (i.e. stories will be anonymous by default but authors can choose to have the story attributed to them).
- A link from each user’s page to the stories they wrote so it’s possible for the author to see whether all their publicly-visible stories taken together reveal more than they’d like.
- Public or registered user free tagging of stories (as in del.icio.us) and extension of the tag cloud (story theme) browser to distinguish public from author indexing.
- A better taxonomy browser, allowing refinement of searches.
- A comparative browser showing bar charts or pie charts of comparative terms (e.g. how many stories are told to attack agile versus those told to defend it)
- Collapsible indexing forms so authors only have to navigate to the index terms they feel are actually important to the story rather than being presented with a very long (fully expanded) form.
- Allow people to submit links to stories on blogs/other web pages (thanks to Andrew Eland for suggesting this)
- Formtweaker may allow us to refine the story classification process a bit.
- Extend the Tagadelic module that creates the “important themes” page so it can provide a block which can be incorporated elsewhere on the site. Willem van den Ende suggests somewhere on the homepage.
- Try out the Node cloud module to provide a story-based rather than category-based view of our content.
In the event we decide to upgrade to Drupal, we should also look at Faceted Search.
